GENTA 160 MG BT 1

This medication is indicated for adults and children :

• For the curative treatment of severe infections caused by identified or suspected bacterial species, microbiologically sensitive to gentamicin.

In these conditions, GENTA 10 may be used for :

• The following infections: urinary tract infections, endocarditis, meningitis, osteoarticular infections, listeriosis, patients who may have associated or suspected bacteremia with one of the infections listed above.
• Particularly in high-risk situations (microbiologically undocumented septic shock, nosocomial injections, infections on foreign bodies).
• Especially in high-risk subjects (immunocompromised patients, newborns). For preventive treatment, prophylaxis of post-operative infections, and prophylaxis during radiological and interventional medicine procedures, according to the recommendations for the appropriate use of antibiotics.

Gentamicin is usually used for curative treatment in combination with other antibiotics, particularly with beta-lactams. However, it may be prescribed as monotherapy in certain clinical situations, particularly in the treatment of urinary tract infections. Official recommendations regarding the appropriate use of antibacterial should be taken into account.
